Salaries of food industry workers will be increased by 1.47% on 1 February 2019

Finnish Food Workers’ Union SEL and Finnish Food and Drink Industries’ Federation ETL have engaged in implementation negotiations on wage increases in line with food industry collective agreements and agreed on a general wage increase for 2019. The wages and salaries of food industry workers will be increased by 1.47% on 1 February 2019, or at the beginning of the pay period starting thereafter.

In accordance with the collective bargaining agreements of the food industry, the size of the salary increase is determined on the basis of a commonly agreed calculation model, which is based on wage increases in comparative sectors. Wage increases for collective bargaining agreements include a general increase to be paid to all and local subsidies, from which the average incremental increase is calculated. In the food sector, the wage increase for 2019 will be paid to all workers in the industry at the same rate of 1.47% overall.

The collective agreements between SEL and ETL are in force from 1 February 2017 to 31 January 2021. During the contract period, wages and salaries of food workers will be increased from 1 January 2018, 1 February 2019 and 1 February 2020, or at the beginning of the pay period starting thereafter.

The annual working time of food workers has not been extended by three unpaid working days, as SEL was excluded from the Competitiveness Agreement signed in 2016.
