New collective agreements for the food industry: No increases in annual working time!

On 13 October 2016, the Council of SEL accepted new collective agreements for food industry workers for the period of 1 February 2017 – 31 January 2021. The current collective agreements will be valid until 31 January 2017.

The new collective agreements will not weaken the terms of the current collective agreements. For instance, annual working time will not increase.

The wages and pay-scale wages of food industry workers will be raised on 1 February 2018, 1 February 2019 and 1 February 2020 or as from the beginning of the next wage-payment periods following these dates in accordance with a mutually agreed calculation model based on three reference industries.

SEL and ETL agreed on the establishment of two working groups. One will develop new working hour models that meet the practical needs of the food industry and the other pay scales and rates. The condition for the results of the working groups to be included in the collective agreement is that the decision making bodies of both SEL and ETL accept them, after which they can be applied in the food industry.

M2L did not negotiate on a new collective agreement. Therefore, the new collective agreement for dairy workers was conducted and signed with ETL. According to the new collective agreement for the dairy sector, the seniority bonuses will be raised on 1 October 2019.The seniority bonus table that will be valid on 31 January 2017 will apply until then. The seniority bonuses of none of the workers will decrease.
