SEL’s regional offices will close, and events and trips abroad will be cancelled until 31.5.2020

Finnish Food Workers’ Union SEL has decided on precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus:

SEL events between 16.3.-31.5.2020 will be cancelled.

SEL courses at the Murikka education centre and Kiljava institute have been cancelled until at least 30.4.2020.

SEL’s local branches and regional organizations are independent bodies which make their own decisions on the cancellation of their meetings and events, but SEL recommends that no non-essential meetings are organized until 31.5.2020.

The Finnish government recommends that all public gatherings of more than 500 people are cancelled until 31.5.2020. It is also recommended that organizers of other gatherings carry out and comply with risk assessments when considering the organization of events.

SEL’s regional offices will be closed to the public until further notice from Monday 16.3.2020. Regional offices will be closed as a precautionary measure in order to ensure unemployment security guidance. Until further notice, member services will not be provided face-to-face at regional offices or the central office, but members will be served as normal by telephone and e-mail. No member meetings or other events will be organized on the regional offices’ premises until further notice.

We hope that unemployed members and members who have been made redundant will submit their earnings-related allowance applications electronically to the unemployment fund via eAsiointi. You can also send messages to the unemployment fund in eAsiointi.

All representational international trips, meetings and training for SEL members will be cancelled until further notice. All SEL personnel business trips abroad will also be cancelled until further notice. This ban also applies to cruises to Tallinn and Stockholm.
