SEL condemns Russia’s military actions in Ukraine and donates EUR 5,000 to victims of the war.

Finnish Food Workers’ Union SEL condemns Russia’s military actions in Ukraine. We have made a donation of EUR 5,000, half of which we have donated through the Red Cross and half through UNICEF to help the Ukrainian people affected by the war.

Russia’s utterly unacceptable attack on Ukraine has shocked people in Finland and around the world. In addition to economic sanctions, the war has led to a massive boycott of Russia and Russian companies and products.

At the same time, we must remember that the war is not the fault of ordinary Russians. A lot of people from Russia and with Russian backgrounds live in Finland. There are also many of them working in the food industry.

Not all Russians are in favour of President Putin and Russia’s war against Ukraine, and it is not right to blame them for the war. Please continue to treat them with respect as neighbors and co-workers.
