{"id":2436,"date":"2018-01-26T20:33:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T18:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.selry.fi\/?p=2436"},"modified":"2021-05-27T20:33:31","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T17:33:31","slug":"political-demonstration-against-the-active-model-on-friday-2-february-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.selry.fi\/en\/news\/political-demonstration-against-the-active-model-on-friday-2-february-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Political demonstration against the active model on Friday, 2 February 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SEL will participate in a political demonstration against the active model that cuts employees\u2019 unemployment benefit and treats the unemployed unfairly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEL invites all food workers to participate in the demonstration that will take place on Friday, 2 February 2018 in Helsinki Senate Square, from 11-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Political industrial action, such as strikes and work stoppages, may take place in food sector workplaces on Friday, 2 February 2018. The means of industrial action, if any, is decided upon locally, at each workplace separately, by the workplace council or by the local union branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEL has informed Finnish Food and Drink Industries&#8217; Federation ETL and the National Conciliator that SEL members are participating in a political demonstration against the active model and that this will lead to political industrial actions in the food industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strike applies to all strike-bound jobs and employees, including employees who are not union members. The political strike is not directed at the employer. It is a lawful strike, even if it occurs while the collective agreement is in force. When a decision to strike has been taken by the workplace council or by the local union branch and it has been notified to the employer in advance, no sanctions can result from the strike for the
